Why should I use CardWorks and not my Bank’s Gift card system?

CardWorks runs on a standard Windows PC and requires no further adjustment than the addition of a magnetic stripe reader. Plus you pay once and there are NO TRANSACTION FEES EVER. The system from the Bank or other transaction based supplier may require:

  • A new Debit / Credit card terminal
  • An “Administration Fee”
  • Transaction Fees for each transaction
  • Annual Fees

What is the standard CardWorks system comprised of?

  • Gift and Loyalty Card Software
  • 500 Custom Printed Gift and/or Loyalty Cards
  • A magnetic stripe or barcode USB reader

What Options are there with the CardWorks System?

  • Additional Custom printed Gift and/or Loyalty Cards
  • Additional magnetic stripe or barcode readers
  • Custom Designed card presentation carriers
  • Server Software to allow for multiple installations
  • Thermal receipt printers.

Can I run other software programs such as a POS system on my PC?

Yes, CardWorks does not conflict with any other software on your PC. It simply sleeps until you “wake it up” by clicking on the CardWorks icon on the PC screen.

Will CardWorks print a receipt for each transaction?

CardWorks is fully customizable by you. Receipts will be printed on demand whenever you choose.

Do I need a special printer for the receipts or reports?

No. CardWorks uses Windows printer drivers. Any printer can be designated for any report or receipt. It is often preferable to use a small thermal printer for receipts just for customer convenience. These are available through Cathim Inc.

Can CardWorks be used in a Network?

Yes. CardWorks can be used either on an internal network within your store allowing multiple cash registers lanes or remotely through a VPN (virtual private network).

Can customers check their balances on line?

Yes. CardWorks has the ability to allow customers to check their Gift Card or Loyalty Card balances on your store’s website.

Can I personalize the customer’s Gift Card or Loyalty Card with their name?

Yes. You can either purchase a separate personalization printer or have Cathim Custom Cards personalize the cards for you.

Do customers need a separate Gift Card and Loyalty Card?

No. CardWorks allows for one card to be used as both a Gift Card and a Loyalty Card.

How long will delivery of my system take?

Typically delivery is approximately 10 days from the date that you approve your card artwork. However, as a special service Cathim Custom Cards can print up to 100 cards for you in one day to allow you to be up and running as soon as possible.

How is CardWorks installed?

Once the system is ordered, you are given a web link which will allow you to simply download the CardWorks software and the unique card numbers from the internet and be up and running with the full system in a matter of minutes. Alternatively if your PC/register does not have an internet connection, we can provide you with a copy of the software and unique numbers on a flash memory stick.

What if my customer loses their Gift or Loyalty Card?

Typically, Gift Cards are treated the same as cash and if they are lost then the amount left on the card is lost. However, CardWorks is different. We believe that your customers should be treated fairly. CardWorks allows you to record vital customer information in the system so that with the proper proof of identification you can reissue the card, void the lost card and transfer the balance remaining onto the new card. This feature is available for both Gift and Loyalty Cards. Don’t worry about the lost card. The only information stored on a card is the unique number. No monetary values are ever stored on the card itself.

Can I issue both fixed value and stored value Gift Cards?

Yes. CardWorks allows for “stored value” cards (fluctuating values) and fixed value Gift Cards. A feature within the software allows you to issue as many cards as you wish with a fixed value in a bulk activation saving both time and eliminating possible errors.
